Phantom of the Protein

On June 1st I had a routine doctors appointment to make sure the baby and I were doing great. I hadn't had much water so I knew that my levels would be off but I was in for a surprise. My protein levels were through the roof! I had suddenly went from having no protein to having 300+. My doctor ordered a 24 hour urine collection and some blood work to verify that it was not preeclampsia. I was so blessed that he gave me the approval to still fly out to Connecticut that weekend. He could have totally said "No, I don't want you going" but he didn't. I got the call while at the BBQ and found out that the blood work came back perfectly but that my protein levels were at 1,000+ grams. They asked that I come in once I am back in town to check my levels again. When I returned and got my levels checked we found that they had gone way down. It would be a see saw with my protein levels like this the rest of my pregnancy. At one point my doctor was saying that if I had not delivered by my due day he was going to induse me. He also had me do another urine collection and more blood work. The blood work came back perfectly again but my protein was at 960+ grams. Doctor then ordered two stress tests and when those came back with no concerns I back my doctor's mystery girl. He told me that he would not induse me unless my blood pressure decided to shoot up. Otherwise, he was just coming to terms with the fact that this may just be how my body responds to being pregnant.

Home Away From Home

So I went out to see my home away from home for the first time the weekend of June 4th. It was the first time that I got to see the school or our house that we will be rented while in Connecticut. I was so happy to be there. I hadn't seen Spencer in what seemed like forever and it was getting to the point that I couldn't take it any more.

While I was out there we drove around some and took in a little bit of the sights. Spencer had school all day on the 4th so I tried to get his air conditioning fixed in his car. I felt really bad that he had been driving around for so long without any cold air in his car. Just the humidity alone on the 4th was killing me. I guess I better get use to it. Later that night there was a BBQ at Spencer's school that family was also invited to. It was so great to have the opportunity to meet and get to know everyone he would be going to school with. I also got to meet Spencer's closest friend from school, Cameron. He is an incredible man with so much personality. I feel so fortunate that Spencer found someone to spend time with before I come out. On the 5th (Saturday) Spencer and I drove down to see the coast and through the surrounding cities in order to learn the area a little bit better. It was so much fun and totally felt natural. I completely felt like I was at home that and it was so right for us to be there. We were pointing out our favorite homes and what areas would be nice to live in...totally something that we do in Utah as well. On Sunday it was time to head home. However, we had to end with a stop at Cheesecake Factory in Hartford. That is our favorite place to eat and we wanted to end with one of our favorite past times.

It was so bitter sweet to leave because I knew that coming home meant we were that much closer to me moving out there so we could finally be a family again but I so didn't want to leave. I wanted it to be time for me to stay already. I missed seeing my husband. This truly has been the hardest thing that I have had to do so far. The pregnancy has been really easy and taking care of everything by myself has been nothing but not having that one amazing person in my life around to share in conversation and treasured moments with has been horrible. I can't wait 'til I am finally there.

'Showered' with Baby Blessings

I feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing people. We have been going through such a crazy transition in our lives and we truly couldn't make any of this possible if it weren't for everyone around us. We have been blessed with so many baby showers and so many gifts. We can't even begin to express our appreciate for the love and support.

We would like to thank those Spencer worked with at the hospital for the farewell/baby shower that they threw for him. You all are honestly angels and the friendship that you have given Spencer will never be forgotten.

We would like to thank both Kevin and Shelly's families for everything everyone has done to help us out. I am so thankful to call you my family as well and I pray you all are blessed in return for your love you have placed on us.

We want to thank both Steve and Kathy's families for the blessing Spencer and I so much. You all are incredible and mean so much to us. May you too be blessed for your love and kindness. We will miss being able to see all of you but will be thinking of each of you.

We want to thank our church family for the many blessing they have given us. I was overwhelmed with love when a few of the women went out of their way to plan a fun shower for me at our church BBQ. They have also been amazing about praying for our family and that Spencer will have the opportunity to come home for the birth of his first child.

We want to thank those that I work with and Salt Lake O&A. They all chipped in and bought my bassinet for me. That was such a blessing for me because I really didn't want to buy the crib and set it all up only to have to take it all a part to move it. So I was almost in tears when they gave me the bassinet.

Last but never the least we need to send a huge thank you out to my amazing friend Lisa. She put together a beautiful baby shower and was such an amazing hostess for all of my friends to attend. She also blessed us with some truly awesome gifts.

Thanks again to each and every one of you. We really are truly blessed to have each of you in our lives. We honestly do pray that you all are blessed beyond measure for the love and support you have given to us.
